Recap of 2011 EDA Building Stimulus
Left to right: EDA members Bob Frechette, Katy Anttila, and Brian Ziemer were present when President Tad Kinyon presented a building stimulus check to Kris Miller of Optimum Fitness.
An Elysian business owner and two home builders were recently presented building stimulus checks from the Elysian Economic Development Authority. The program announced in March 2011 was designed to increase Elysian's tax base by stimulating new construction in the City. Reimbursements toward building permits and utility hookup fees of up to $5,000 were offered to property owners who began construction in 2011. New residential or commercial buildings begun in 2011 were eligible for reimbursement when all required construction and inspections were complete.
Kris Miller added a 640 square foot building to Optimum Fitness at 207 Main Street East. Her fitness center offers circuit equipment, treadmills, ellipticals, weight machine and free weights with discounts available to members with Blue Cross Blue Shield of MN, UCare, Medica Prime or Silver Sneakers coverage. The center is available from 4 am – 11 pm daily.

Dan and Patricia Guerton's home in Roemhidt's Waters Edge subdivision and a home built by Jeremy Brown of Alliance Contracting in Sakatah Trail Estates subdivision qualified for stimulus program payments.
The EDA awarded over $11,000 of the $25,000 allotted to the program one year ago. Stimulus awards came from the EDA's revolving loan fund which was generated from interest on previous EDA loans; therefore, there was no cost to taxpayers.
